My artistic process is driven by the desire to seek out underlying truths, comedy, absurdity, and drama in the human experience. I view choreography as a kinesthetic language that communicates these elements in a particular voice with a clear point of view. My technical training in classical ballet and past performances in musical theater, post-modern and contemporary styles inform my movement vocabulary, as does my belief that the body is socio-culturally inscribed and therefore manifests cultural values. I greatly appreciate the intellect, physical prowess, humor, and emotional vulnerability that artists with whom I work bring to the

rehearsal process and I see the studio as a laboratory where the freedom to take risks, explore, create, and make meaning is cultivated.

I have extensive experience working with diverse dancers of all ages and levels in multiple dance genres. In addition, I have a keen interest in developing interdisciplinary partnerships and the presentation of dance in non-traditional performance spaces. Please click here for choreography highlights.

Projects

My projects revolve around a deep interest in being part of a dance citizenry. Dance sparks a dialogue about underlying myths, values, and traditions in our culture; furthermore, those who derive knowledge from dance develop a positive sense of self, as well as social awareness and empathy for others. Dance is transformative for the body, the intellect, and the spirit. It embraces change as a process that is experiential, holistic, and communal. Dance creation is dynamic and responsive to the challenges of a world ever in flux and in need of peace.
